Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first men's player to take part in six European Championships when he led his side in a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in Euro 2024 Group F action.

He had had several chances on Tuesday as his side came from behind to win thanks to an own goal and Francisco Conceicao's added-time clincher.
First appearing in Portugal's squad in 2004, Ronaldo made his Euro debut on home soil, scoring his first goal in the tournament against the Czechs. Now, 20 years later, Portugal faced the same team in their opening match of Ronaldo's sixth championship.
"Today begins another chapter in our history. I fondly remember my first day with the national team, a journey full of challenges and victories. Now, I have the honor of being alongside a team of champions, full of talent and determination," Ronaldo posted on social media platform X.
"With everyone's strength and support, we turn dreams into reality. Let's, together, fight for another triumph. United, we are unstoppable. Go Portugal!"
Ronaldo, 39, already has the record for most Euro games (26), goals (14) and goals at five editions of the tournament.
Ronaldo's teammate Pepe also became the oldest men's player at a Euros after starting against the Czechs.
The defender, at 41 years and 113 days old, beats the previous record holder, Hungary goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly by over a year.
"Everyone knows how hard I've worked to be here today," Pepe told reporters.
"It was a difficult game, we didn't deserve to concede that goal. The team was extraordinary and was always in control."
The Brazil-born Pepe was 24 when he made his Portugal debut under Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in November 2007 when he was still a Real Madrid player. He has made 138 appearances for Portugal, scoring eight goals, getting 25 yellow cards. His one red card came in Portugal's opening game at the 2014 World Cup against Germany.
